Turgay earned his PhD from the University of Jena, Germany, under Prof. Ulrich Schubert, focusing on polymer synthesis and nanoparticle formulation. He then conducted postdoctoral research with Prof. Rachel O’Reilly at the University of Warwick and University of Birmingham, UK, specializing in polymer-based nanoparticles and smart materials. Most recently, he was a postdoctoral researcher at HELMHOLTZ-HIPS, Germany, where he developed polymer-based nanocarriers for antibiotic delivery targeting bacterial biofilms. Turgay joined the Wilson lab in June 2024 as a postdoctoral scholar. His research in the Wilson lab focuses on developing polymer-based vaccines and nanocarriers for cancer immunotherapy.

Outside the lab, Turgay loves to spend time with his daughter.
